Les Voix du Sèr: Voices of the Sea
An intimate winter retreat With Guest Teacher Caroline Wickham

We’re so excited to invite you to a very special edition of Vocal Odyssey, a winter retreat held on the island of Guernsey, my beloved homeland.

This retreat is called -  Les Voix du Sèr: Voices of the Sea. The title is drawn from Guernésiais, the native language of Guernsey, also known as “the island patois.” Though now spoken by only a small number of islanders, it holds a deep cultural memory and connection to this land. I felt inspired to name the retreat in this language as a way to honour the roots and spirit of the island that shaped my voice and path.

It is as well a tribute to the ocean’s rhythm and the sonic roots that shaped my voice, shared as an invitation to listen inward and discover what your own voice might hold.

Returning participants from previous retreats receive a 10% discount as a thank-you for continuing the journey with us. To use this discount, please email us before booking so we can share your personal discount code. Discounts cannot be applied retroactively after payment has been made.

Island of Guernsey

Guernsey is a small island, roughly 9 miles long and 5 miles across at its widest point. Surrounded by water, you learn to feel things in waves. That rhythm has always found its way into how I speak, sing, and express myself through voice.

For me, the ocean has always stirred something emotional. Its movement and depth feel closely connected to the way I experience and share feeling through sound.

Guernsey is also the place where Victor Hugo, in exile, wrote Les Misérables and Toilers of the Sea, where Renoir painted the cliffs of Moulin Huet, and where the novel and film The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society  found its setting.

This retreat holds special significance for me, as it marks the first time I’m bringing Vocal Odyssey home. For over a decade, Lino and I have carried this work across the world, but returning to the place where my musical and healing journey began, surrounded by the wild beauty that shaped me, feels deeply meaningful.

Together, in the heart of winter, we’ll gather at the stunning 4-star Fermain Valley Hotel (check here), held by cliffs, woodland, and sea, to explore and meet our voices not as something to perform, but as something to remember. A way back to self. A bridge between inner world and outer expression.

Our group will be small and intimate (maximum 25 participants), allowing us to journey deeply together, through voicework, intuitive improvisation, play, ritual, movement, stillness, and celebration.

No previous experience is needed, just your open, curious heart.
